This information has been prepared to assure all clients that our engineers and representatives who undertake installation and maintenance of ComputerTel Products carry out their work in a safe manner in accordance with all relevant Statutory Regulations, and any other conditions which apply, subject to being informed of these, prior to the commencement of their work. It does not embrace every contingency or hazard which might be encountered or relieve any employer of his responsibilities.
For the purpose of this Safety Policy the expression "The Contractor" shall mean COMPUTERTEL LIMITED and their representatives undertaking the works.
For the purpose of this Safety Policy the expression "The Client " shall mean any representative of the customer, who issued the order of works to ComputerTel Limited and whose premises the works will be undertaken at.
GENERAL
1. All persons working on site will conform to the Health and Safety at Work Act,
and such legislation that may be applicable at that time. The Client's Safety Officer will provide
advice and assistance if required.
2.ComputerTel Limited are responsible for ensuring that their employees are competent and have received training in matters relating to safe working whilst on site.
3.The Contractor will report to the Client's representative before commencing work on site.
4. If the Contractor is to undergo works in an area that personal Protective Equipment is required, then the client will ensure that this is supplied, prior to the commencement of the works, or inform the Contractor, in advance of any requirement.
5. The Contractor is requested to assist in keeping working areas and access paths clear of waste materials.
8. Contractors will obey site instructions for control of parking and any speed limits imposed by Site Management or Client.
9. Contractors will comply with the Client's safety policy for Contractors.
10. Supply and use of Electricity, Hand Power Tools, is subject to Contract conditions.
ACCIDENT REPORTING
All accidents must be reported and recorded in the Site Accident Book. A copy of the accident must also be issued to the Contractor, for entry into their accident record book as well. First Aid facilities must be available for the initial treatment of an injury on site. In accordance with current legislation all dangerous occurrences, fatalities or major injuries must be notified to the Health and Safety Executive immediately by telephone. The Contractor's representative will comply with this, if no other client representative is available.
ASBESTOS
ComputerTel Limited will not be involved in any works appertaining to asbestos, its removal or disposal.
DEMOLITION
ComputerTel Limited will not be involved in any works appertaining to demolition.
ELECTRICITY
1.ComputerTel Limited and it's representatives will conform with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, together with other relevant current legislation.
2. The Contractor does not install or modify any power voltage in the course of their works. All installations are low voltage installations and the contractor utilized exiting customer supplied socket outlets.
3.Leads will be fitted with appropriate plugs, which should comply with BS.4343. Bare wires must not be inserted into sockets. Joints on leads will be made with appropriate connectors; no taped joints will be permitted.
4. Unauthorised persons must not tamper with the electrical supply or fittings provided by the Contractor. Any defects must be reported to the client contact and The Contractor.
EXCAVATIONS
ComputerTel will not undertaken any excavations works.
FIRE PRECAUTIONS
The Contractor and it's representatives are trained on Fire safety and Fire precautions.
The client is requested to inform the Contractor of Emergency meeting points and any other site specific fire safety information, prior to the commencement of works.
FIRE FIGHTING APPLIANCES
The Contractor will expect the installation site to provide sufficient fire fighting appliances, on site.
HIGHLY INFLAMMABLE LIQUIDS AND GASES
Computertel and it's representatives have no need to utilise Propane, Butane Gas etc.. or any adhesive or solvents in the course of their works.
If any inflammable liquids or gases are likely to be on site, then ComputerTel limited would expect the site and its representatives to adhere to all health and safety aspects appertaining to this.
HAND POWER TOOLS
Computertel and it's representatives have no need to utilise hand or power tools in the course of their works. If any equipment of this nature is to be utilized in the area that any works is to be carried out, the Contractor would expect the site and it's representatives to adhere to all health and safety aspects appertaining to this.
HEALTH
All works carried out by the contractor will adhere to all health and safety regulations. The nature of the works carried out by the contractor is not of a high risk nature and therefore not deemed a health risk to the contractor or the client.
CONFINED SPACES
No person may enter or work in any fully or partially enclosed area where a hazardous atmosphere is likely to be present* unless that area is appropriately tested before entry and monitored during the work activity.
EXHAUST FUMES
The works undertaken by The Contractor does not emit any exhaust fumes.
LIFTING EQUIPMENT
No lifting equipment is required for our works to be undertaken.
MANUAL HANDLING
The Contractor and it's representatives have all been trained in safe methods of Manual Handling and will not be required to handle excessive loads.
MECHANICAL PLANT
Mechanical plant is not required by the contractor to undergo any works.
NOISE
The Contractor does not emit high levels of noise whilst undergoing works. If the Contractor is likely to be working in an area that may have high levels of noise emissions, the client would be required to provide the Contractor with suitable hearing protection, whilst on site.
ROOFWORK & SCAFFOLDING
The Contractor does not require any scaffolding or will not undertake any roof work, in the course of their tasks undertaken.
